Discounts for students

What is a Student pass?

It’s a travel card that gives students discounted fares on:

  • Bus tickets
  • Tram tickets
  • Multi-modal tickets (bus, train and tram)

What ticket types are available?

  • Direct Debit tickets
  • 4-week tickets
  • Term tickets

If you don’t travel regularly, you can use Swift Go for flexible pay-as-you-go travel.

How can I find out if I'm eligible?

You can get a student discount if you are:

  • Aged 18 or over and in full-time education
  • Aged 16 to 18 but not eligible for a 16–18 photocard
  • You’ll need to provide proof of full-time study, such as a letter from your college or university that shows your course end date.  NUS cards or student union cards are not accepted.

How do I get a Student pass?

  1. Use the ticket finder to find the best ticket for your journey.
  2. Select your mode of transport, then choose ‘Student 18+’ under traveller type.
  3. Click ‘Buy on Swift’.
  4. Select Create Account under the new customer section.
  5. Enter your education details and upload your proof of full-time study. If your evidence provided doesn't have your course end date, this will cause delays in receiving your tickets. For more information about how to prove you are a student, please visit our webpage.
  6. Add your personal details, upload a photo, and set up your email and password.

Your ticket start date must be at least 7 days in advance. Once complete, your Swift student card will be posted to you and should arrive within 5 working days.

For more information about what to do if your pass is lost or stolen, please visit our webpage.
