Rail disruption at Birmingham New Street to Coleshill Parkway

What’s happening?

Major rail engineering work will take place between Birmingham New Street to Coleshill Parkway/Water route this summer which will affect Cross City North Train services on the routes between: Litchfield Trent Valley and Birmingham New Street. Services along this route will operate on a revised timetable.

There will be no trains running from Birmingham New Street to Coleshill Parkway/Water Orton on the below dates:

  • Saturday 10Sunday 11 August 2024 (weekend closure)
  • Saturday 17Monday 26 August (10 day shut-down of service)
  • Saturday 31 AugustSunday 1 September 2024 (weekend closure)

Rail replacement bus services will be provided during these times.

The M42 Northbound between Junctions 6 and 7 will also be closed from 19 August to 22 August between 9pm to 5am. Signed diversions will be put in place along the A446. Expect roads in local areas to be busier.

Coleshill Parkway station car park will be closed from 15 to 27 August. All vehicles will need to be removed by the evening of 14 August. The car park will reopen on 28 August.

What should you do?


  • Please check before you travel to see if your journey is impacted by the rail engineering work. You can check and plan your journey using National Rail
