Great Birmingham 10K & Half Marathon 2026

The AJ Bell Great Birmingham Run 10K and Birmingham Half Marathon is scheduled to go down on Sunday 03 May 2026.

Road closures will be in place throughout the day as runners embark on a route taking them through a number of landmarks across the city. This includes:

• Broad Street, Centenary Square.
• Jewellery Quarter.
• Chamberlain Clock at Warstone Lane and Vyse Street.
• St Paul’s Square.
• City-centre route that features the Mailbox, Grand Central at New Street station, St Martin’s Church, Southside and Digbeth.

You will still be able to get to where you need to go, but you'll need to plan ahead and allow more time for your journey with diversions in place.

Travelling by bus

To allow the Birmingham Marathon to take place, various buses will be diverted for the event. The National Express West Midlands bus services: 1, 2, 3, 4, 4A, 5, 6, 7, 8A/C, 9, 12/A, 13/A, 16, 17, 23, 24, 35, 45, 47, 50, 52, 60, 80, 82, 87, 97, 101, X1, X2, X8, X10  will be subject to diversion and/or bus stop changes from the start of service until the routes will re-open on Sunday 03 May. Metro:  

Metro will operate between Wolverhampton and Grand Central from the start of service until 14:00. There will be no service from Grand Central and Edgbaston Village during this time. There will also be no service to Millennium Point during this time. Metro will run 2 additional services at 06:00 and 06:30 from Wolverhampton Station to Grand Central.

Rail:  

Rail services are unlikely to experience a significant impact.

Travelling by car

There will be road closures and diversions in place. Road closures along the route will be implemented between 04:30 and 08:00 with re-openings between 12:00 and 16:00. Plan ahead and check your route. More information on the road closures can be found here.
