Aston Villa Football Club Parade

Starts 21 May 2026 until ongoing

Last updated: 21 May 2026

What’s happening?

Aston Villa Football Club are taking over Birmingham today with a free open-top bus parade from 16:30 onwards, celebrating their Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Europe League win against SC Freiburg.

Travelling by car

The city will be busier than usual because of the parade, with road closures and parking restrictions on including the following roads:

Branston Street, Hall Street, Warstone Lane, Frederick Street, Albion Street, Powell Street, Summer Hill Road, Sand Pits, Clement Street, St Vincent Street, Sheepcote Street, Grosvenor Street West, Ryland Street, Broad Street and Centenary Square.

The roads will be closed from around 10:00 in the morning until about 22:00 at night. They may open earlier if it's safe.

Access to some car parks and buildings on these roads might be hard to get to during this time.

If you’re travelling into the city, it’s a good idea to use buses, trains, or trams instead of driving. If you do drive, try to park outside the city and use public transport.

Places such as Digbeth, Holloway Circus and near the parade route will be very crowded with cars and lots of people walking around. There may also be extra delays in some areas because of roadworks.

Travelling by bus

Buses will change their routes during the day and some may be closed. There will be temporary bus stops from 9:45-22:00.

Travel tips

You will still be able to get to where you need to go, but consider the following:

If you are travelling in the area by bus or tram, plan ahead and leave more time for your journey. Your journey might be impacted by the diversion route and bus stop changes or the shortened tram service.
