Go Cycle and Scoot helps eligible people in the West Midlands with the cost of cycling and scooting by providing free access to Cycle Hire and E-scooter Hire.
You could get free use of West Midlands Cycle Hire bikes and West Midlands e-scooter hire if you’re:
- living in Birmingham, Coventry, Dudley, Sandwell, Solihull, Walsall or Wolverhampton.
- aged 16 or over for cycles or 18 or over for e-scooters
You must:
- have an individual income up to £30,000 before tax or receive UK income assessed financial support/ benefits
- not be getting support with travel costs for cycling
- not be eligible for a cycle to work scheme which helps employees buy a bike
- not own a suitable working bike
You will need to provide proof of your address and proof of your wage or income assessed benefit.
If you are working part time, you will need to provide:
- proof you are receiving UK income assessed financial support/benefits
- or a letter of support from your training provider
- or a letter of support from your education support service

One code giving you access to a Flexi Pass providing 300 minutes free on West Midlands e-scooter and West Midlands e-bike hire.
You will get double minutes on a West Midlands Cycle Hire pedal bike*

Each person can apply for one code per financial year. Each year will be 1st April to 31st March.
- Rides with friends, family or colleagues
- Rides to improve your fitness, health and wellbeing
- Journeys to work
- Part of journeys where you use other transport such as a bus, train or tram
- Led rides where you go on a group ride
- Learn to ride a bike session
- Bikeability session to improve your confidence riding a bike
You can travel to:
- There are over 175 Cycle Hire docks across the West Midlands
- View maps of where Cycle Hire docks are and where you can ride
To use West Midlands Cycle Hire you must:
- have an e-mail address
- have a debit or credit card
- be aged 16 or over
To use E-scooter hire
- have an e-mail address
- have a debit or credit card
- be aged 18 or over and have a valid UK driving license
Get help with your application
If you don’t have access to a computer, you can visit your local library to use one.
You can ask a friend or family member to help you apply.
If you’re registered with a Jobcentre, you can ask your work coach to help you.
